Job description

  • Pre-trip inspection as per SOP 
  • Servicing of vehicles as per SOP 
  • Not speeding, over rev or idle excessively 
  • Driver CAB & Truck & Trailer to be washed/ cleaned weekly 
  • Drivers should fill up diesel before every delivery 
  • Gate register completed before leaving for delivery and on return from delivery 
  • Tyre management – No mismatching, under inflated, Sidewall damages or damaged casings. Torque indicators visual inspection 
  • Deliver load on time and in full (OTIF) 
  • Driver is ultimately responsible to ensure all stock on truck is correct and according to invoice – Driver needs to sign Shipping Instruction for every delivery – Comply with the independent 3 point check 
  • Collect pallets and boards & capture correctly on Twizza Return sheet – Customer to agree and sign 
  • Always get the POD signed by the receiver 
  • Reverse logistics – Opportunity for us to utilise our assets better – Driver to adhere to plan and ensure TAT at 3rd party contractors are reasonable 
  • Arrive at customer dressed neatly in corporate uniform – PPE at all times 
  • Always be polite and helpful and deliver to customer expectations 
  • Ensure you deliver according to briefing 
  • When in doubt always call a supervisor or Controller to assist and intervene if necessary 
  • Ensure TAT at plant & customer is reasonable 
  • Build good relationships with Supervisors, Controller & Checker Operators 
  • Communicate effectively in the workplace to supervisors & Controller 

Minimum requirements

Qualification: 

  • Grade 12 

  • Valid Code 14 driver Licence with G&P on PRDP 

 

Experience 

  • Minimum 3 years heavy duty driving experience 

  • Unendorsed EC (Heavy duty) drivers license 

  • Be fluent in English and a regional language
