Job description
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute the organization’s IT infrastructure roadmap aligned with business goals.
- Lead capacity planning and scalability initiatives to support business growth.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to enhance infrastructure resilience and performance.
Systems & Network Management
- Oversee all on-premises and cloud infrastructure including servers, storage, networks, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless systems.
- Ensure optimal uptime and performance of IT services, conducting regular audits and monitoring.
Security & Compliance
- Implement robust cybersecurity protocols and disaster recovery plans.
- Ensure compliance with local and international regulations (e.g., POPIA, GDPR).
- Perform regular security assessments and risk analyses.
Team Leadership & Vendor Management
- Lead and mentor a team of IT specialists and engineers.
- Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure SLAs are met.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to support digital transformation.
Budgeting & Procurement
- Manage the IT infrastructure budget, including hardware/software procurement and licensing.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or performance.
Asset & Inventory Management
- Maintain a comprehensive IT asset register, tracking all hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycle.
- Ensure proper asset tagging, compliance with asset policies, and timely audits.
- Coordinate disposal, redeployment, and warranty claims of IT equipment in line with company policies.
Minimum requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s degree advantageous).
- 7 years of progressive IT experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing infrastructure.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hybrid environments.
- Proficiency in network administration, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), storage solutions, and Windows/Linux server environments.
- Knowledge of ITIL, COBIT, or similar IT service management frameworks.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity standards and tools such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection.
