Introduction
Purpose is to support the Manufacturing plant to consistently and reliably produce and distribute products at the lowest possible cost in accordance with global benchmarked standards of reliability, SHEQ service and costs. This position will also highly entail SHEQ and GMP Audits. Implementation of OHSA, ISO 45001, FSSC 22 000, ISO 9001 (Quality Systems) Reduction in cost of Health & Safety, implementation of hygiene strategies and building sustainable SHEQ and culture on site.
Job description
- Strategic Results: Ensure that at plant level, in liaison with the HSE Manager, that the company’s SHEQ management strategic results are met.
- Consistently meet budgeted cost targets for SHEQ.
- Assist HSE Manager to manage suppliers and contractors according to the company’s supplier development strategy.
- Assist HSE Manager to ensure Management systems compliance. Improve the risk profile of the site.
- Consistently ensure SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality) management practices are applied and the department conforms to regulatory and SHEQ requirements.
- Create an environment for challenging status quo, risk rating improvement and sharing of knowledge, Leadership Results.
- Create a sense of common purpose across the compliance team by providing regular feedback and updates with regards to SHEQ changes to regulations.
- Involvement in setting the overall standards for manufacturing and anticipating future requirements e.g. developing policy standards, protocols and/or procedure.
- Train, mentor, coach employees on specific training material pertaining to SHEQ.
- Give advice, guidance and feedback based on knowledge and expertise.
- Assist in driving improvement initiatives and process improvement projects.
- Assist with continuous improvement in SHEQ.
- Conducting of Food Safety GMP’s as well as Health & Safety GMP’s.

Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 with equivalent qualification.
- Tertiary qualification in one of the following fields; SHEQ and/or relevant Health & Safety background.
- Relevant experience in conducting GMP as well as safety audits, preferably within an FMCG environment.
- At least 3 years’ experience within a SHEQ environment in FMCG manufacturing.
- Sound knowledge of OHSA and Quality Management System requirements, e.g. ISO 45001:2018, ISO 9001:2015 and FSSC 22000 (food safety system).
- The ability to work under pressure well-developed strategic and conceptual skills.
