Introduction
As the Technical Planner, you will ensure all maintenance activities are aligned with legal, operational, and strategic requirements. A key part of your role involves managing the stores and inventory system—optimizing availability of parts, maintaining accurate stock records, and driving process efficiency across procurement and storage functions.
Job description
Detailed Responsibilities:
Maintenance Planning
- Develop maintenance plans that align with production schedules
- Coordinate line/s maintenance, deferred defects, base maintenance, and parts warranties
- Audit and issue maintenance work packages and related technical documentation
- Review upcoming maintenance against compliance standards
- Provide planning support for plant shutdowns, ensuring spares availability
Stores & Stock Management
- Oversee the entire lifecycle of technical inventory—from receiving, storing, issuing, to reordering
- Maintain accurate inventory records and daily stock movement reports
- Establish minimum reorder levels to prevent stockouts or overstocking
- Implement and maintain 6S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Safety) in the stores area
- Work closely with the procurement team to obtain and compare vendor quotes
- Ensure safe, efficient handling and storage of components, parts, and equipment
- Identify and dispose of obsolete or expired stock in compliance with regulations
Process Flow Management
- Stock Request: Production or Maintenance team submits a requisition
- Check Inventory: Verify available stock in NAV system
- Issue Stock: Sign-off, dispatch, and record in inventory logs
- Reorder Point: Automated/manual trigger when stock hits reorder threshold
- Procurement: Vendor quotes are obtained and approved
- Goods Receipt: Stock is received, verified, and stored
- Cycle Counts & Audits: Regular physical checks to ensure accuracy
- Reporting: Daily, weekly, and monthly reports submitted to Technical Manager
Minimum requirements
Education:
- Grade 12 (with Maths & Science)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Preferably someone with N6 or national diploma and trade tested(Electrical/Mechanical or Millwright)
- Good knowledge of CMMS systems(SAP, Pragma and etc)
Experience:
- Hands-on experience in technical and stores planning
- Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics NAV & MP Vision 9.8 Enterprise
- Familiarity with ERP-based inventory management systems
Skills:
- Analytical thinker with strong attention to detail
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
- Able to work independently and under pressure
