Secondary responsibilities for all processes on the shift; meeting operating requirements; managing waste streams, and Level 1 team management. Management of team and performance.
Job description
Atlanta
- Operate Stretch Operator
- Clean all the sensors on the pallet conveyor right through to the removing dock
- Make sure the whole Stretch wrap conveyor area is clean at all times
- Make sure the board magazines is full at all times. During handover make sure they are full
- Make sure the board magazines are positioned correctly so that boards are put correctly on pallets.
- Receive your area in a clean, running condition
- Hand your area over in a clean, running condition
- Report all faults or problems asap to the Team Leader
Vario-Pack
- Make sure that plastic rolls is available on both rolls in the machine and the carrier at all times
- Make a 100% sure that the welding is successful before running plastic
- Clean sensors as soon as possible before the start of shift
- Check conveyors from labeller to palletiser are running
- Inspect bottle and label every half hour
- Operate Videojet on line 2. Clean the area and Videojet regularly.
- Change the flavour on Videojet during flavour change
Forklift
- Offloading full pallets off the line
- Supply boards to be loaded on layer board machine
- Bring pallets and load on pallet magazine
- Packing finished product in warehouse
- Make sure machines go on charge end of shift
- Batteries must be checked(water levels and loose connections) before machine get used
- Physical check on the machine must be done and any defects must be reported
Palletiser
- Operate palletiser Operator
- Clean all the sensors in the robobox area as soon as possible before shift start. Make a 100% sure they are working correctly
- Clean all the sensors on the pallet conveyor right through to the removing dock
- Make sure the whole Palletiser conveyor area is clean at all times
- Make sure gripper head rollers are slippery/clean
- Make sure the board magazines is full at all times. During handover make sure they are full
- Make sure the board magazines are positioned correctly so that boards are put correctly on pallets.
Filler/ Blower/Block
- Responsible for running the blower, the filler and mixer
- Responsible for flavour change at the mixer, filler and blower
Flavour Change:
- Select the right product at the flavour room (FIFIO). Discuss with Team Leader – Your line and flavour room
- Select right product at mixer and follow SOP for flavour start up at mixer
- Select right product at filler and follow SOP for flavour start up at the filler
- Do a 50 bottle run start up and make sure the product is right:
- Taste
- Colour
- Brix
- CO2
- During flavour change drain caps if necessary and ensure that all are drained
- During flavour change especially when preform colour or size is changed remove all bottles, caps and preforms from blower, filler, mixer and surrounding area.
- Check product on every hour during the run as in D and record findings.
- Check bottle for defects on the hour for:
- Pearlescence
- Solid base with small centre
- Straight neck
- Check rejections at the checkmat and investigate the reason
- Make sure that all the rejection faults are switch on at checkmat
- Check preform rejections and inform team leader of unnecessary rejections
- Decant rejected bottles
- Remove decanted bottles on a regular basis
- Decant rejected bottles
- Remove decanted bottles on a regular basis
- Clean blower, filler and mixer and areas surrounding it
- Clean filter v700 for base cooling as soon as possible after start of shift
- Clean all sensors on line till past checkmat including checkmat cameras as soon as possible after start of shift
Waterplant:
- Work instructions (SOPs in place)
- Documentation as per QMS (Monitor the purification process and fill in the relevant documentation.)
- Waste Management
- Operating water treatment plant efficiently and safely
- Supply the relevant departments with clean, safe water.
- Assist with syrup making and any other reasonable work
- Autonomous maintenance Level 1 – 4
- Ensure that the correct raw materials for are fed in and correct outputs as per SOP is achieved for each of the machines in concern.

- All processing equipment and surrounding areas in concern must be kept clean.

- Check regularly that all functions are on at check-mat
- Make sure areas of operators are clean at all time
- Make sure all rubbish is removed
- Check that autonomous maintenance are adhered to.
- Adhere to all Food Safety Standards and report on all issues with regards to the Food Safety Management System to the Food Safety Team.
- Ensure that the Critical Control Points (CCP 1) and Operational Prerequisite Programs (OPRP 1 & OPRP 5,) are measured, monitored and verified at predetermined frequencies as per the SOP.
Minimum requirements
Qualification:
Matric (Grade 12)
N2 Mechanical or Electrical Engineering advantageous
Experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience within beverage and bottling industry
People management and leadership skills
Preferably experience within the FMCG industry
