Job description
nstallation and Integration
- Accountable for the management and execution of the Control and Automation function within the site
- Oversee and participate in the installation, configuration, and integration of instrumentation and automation systems, including sensors, controllers, transmitters, actuators, and associated equipment.
- Ensure proper system functionality and compatibility.
- Deliver value through continuous improvement within the site
Maintenance and Calibration
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies and procedures for instrumentation and automation systems.
- Perform complex maintenance tasks, such as inspections, instrument calibrations, and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and regulatory standards.
- Locate plant, equipment, spares and relevant documentation / systems
- Operate plant and process equipment.
- Perform basic changes to software in PLC's with appropriate approvals.
- Supports the scoping of projects and upgrades to plant and process equipment.
Troubleshooting and Advanced Repairs
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex issues related to instrumentation and automation systems.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to identify problems, analyze data, and implement effective solutions.
Quality Control and Testing
- Develop and execute comprehensive testing plans and procedures for instrumentation and automation systems.
- Perform in-depth system tests, verify performance, and document results.
- Lead efforts to address any issues and ensure compliance with project specifications
Documentation and Reporting
- Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of all activities, including installation procedures, maintenance records, calibration reports, troubleshooting logs, and project documentation.
- Generate clear and concise reports for internal and client review
Client Relationship Management
- Interact professionally with clients, addressing their concerns, providing technical support, and maintaining strong relationships.
- Serve as a point of contact for client communication and collaboration throughout project execution.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay updated with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices related to instrumentation and automation.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, efficiency gains, and enhanced service
Health, Safety, Quality & Environment
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Adhere to standards.
- Compliance to Quality and FSSC 22 000 requirements.
- Adhere to all Food Safety Standards and report on all issues with regards to the Food Safety Management System to the Food Safety Team.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, regulations, and industry standards.
- Conduct regular safety assessments and implement corrective measures as needed.
Minimum requirements
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 (Maths & Science)
- Bachelor's Degree/National Diploma in a relevant technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
- 6 years' experience in Related industry
- 5 years' experience in instrumentation
- 5 years' experience in PLC, SCADA & HMI
- 4 years' in experience in Switchgear & VSD
- 2 years' experience in pneumatics and hydraulics
