Introduction
To provide multidisciplinary engineering and operations skills to ensure general maintenance within specific unit of responsibility within prescribed guidelines. Responsible for affecting repairs to machines on the entire production line, resulting in minimum downtime. Trouble shoot, maintain, repair and conduct preventative maintenance on facility equipment. Primary focus will be on maintenance and repair of production equipment. Manage preventative maintenance programs and ensure proper and safe operation of processing equipment
Job description

• Maintenance and repairs are carried out as per instruction/ plan, meeting all the quality requirements.
• Breakdowns are repaired with the minimum production downtime
• Execute effective production safety/housekeeping
• Assess the problem and determine a course of action Provide guidance and advice on machine operation, machine fault finding

• Operating/ shutting down and changing over machines and equipment to prescribed standards
• Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
• Align machines and equipment, using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometres, and plumb bobs
• Connect power unit to machines or steam piping to equipment, and test unit to evaluate its mechanical operation
• Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
• Assemble and install equipment, using hand tools and power tools.
• Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment, using blueprints and schematic drawings, to determine work procedures
• Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts, using hand tools and measuring instruments, to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
• Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit, using hand tools and power tools.
Assemble machines, and bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures, using hand tools and power tools.
• Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels to specified items, using portable gas heating equipment.
• Lay out mounting holes, using measuring instruments, and drill holes with power drill.
• Tools and equipment utilisation comply with manufacturer’s specifications and procedures
